Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (English: This Youth is Crazy) is an upcoming 2013 Bollywood romance movie directed by Ayan Mukerji under Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. The movie stars Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, who star in their second movie together after their 2008 hit Bachna Ae Haseeno. Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin will play supporting roles. After initially being aimed for March 2013, the movie will now be releasing on 31 May 2013.

Casting

Ranbir Kapoor was the first to sign the movie, and is working under Ayan Mukerji's direction for the second time after Wake Up Sid. For his role in the movie, Kapoor will be sporting pierced ears. His character reportedly called Bunny, is that of a travel show host and an ardent traveller.

There was a lot of speculation about the movie's leading lady, with Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma being considered. Padukone was eventually chosen for the role as producer Karan Johar and director Ayan Mukerji felt she was the right choice. Reportedly she will portray the role of a sweet girl-next-door named Naina.

Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin have been signed on in pivotal roles. Koechlin will play Aditi who is a happy-go-lucky person and also a tomboy. It was later reported that German-Indian model Evelyn Sharma was signed on for the role of Ranbir Kapoor's initial love interest in the movie. Sharma has confirmed that she will play a girly, ditzy character named 'Lara', who is constantly flirting with Kapoor's character.

The movie's shooting began on March 20 in Hadimba Temple, Manali. In May, the cast movieed in Udaipur, where Kapoor and Padukone also shot for a romantic song. The unit then shot at Rajasthan which was difficult due to the heat. After movieing in Mumbai, Kapoor went alone to Paris, France to shoot a 5 minute long sequence which took 10 days. The shooting took place in August 2012 in a famous street market called Rue Mouffetard. Other important scenes were then shot in Movieistan, Mumbai. On January 26, the crew visited Kashmir to shoot a song sequence and a few scenes with Ranbir, Deepika and the rest of the cast. They movieed at places such as Kongdori in Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Srinagar. On February 6, Kapoor and Padukone shot for promotional posters, they will be expected to release mid February. By February 19, movieing was said to be completed, leaving only a post production work to commence.

Music

The music of Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani will be composed by Pritam, who is composing the music for a Dharma Productions movie for the first time. Songs which have been confirmed include Battamez Dil and Balam Pichkari, which is a Holi song choreographed by Remo D'Souza.
